The word topology has several meanings. It can refer to the way in which constituent parts of a system are interrelated or arranged. It is also the name given to a branch of mathematics dealing with geometrical properties and spatial relations unaffected by the continuous change of shape or size of figures. Topologists are okay with bending, stretching or folding, but not cutting or drilling.
